canid humerus
This is a humerus from an unidentified canid, perhaps a coyote, from Marion County, Florida. The bone was recovered from a sinkhole spring (Scott Spring). The age of the bone is Pleistocene to Holocene.
The supratrochlear foramen (the bone-opening visible in the top left and top right in the image) is present in canids and in about one-third of humans.
Notice that there is no entepicondylar foramen on the distal portion of this canid humerus -- a useful identification feature. More information about entepicondylar foramina here: http://www.thefossil...-eecf-close-up/
