6.0 inch Chilean Megalodon tooth

Megatooth Collector

This may be my favorite tooth in the collection. It is a 6 inch Meg from Chile that has some very interesting markings and pattern.

When asked about it, the fossil dealer commented that "There something about the acidic soils in the sand layer of this region that makes patterns like that. Had a couple that were pretty similar to that one in the past but they are definitely the exception rather than the rule".

I don't know whether it is true, but a dealer once told me, that it is acid leakage from plant roots that also grow here and there in the desert, that produce these patterns.
