eaglephot Posted January 12, 2014 Really nice fossils. Though Keichousaurus aren't actually dinosaurs. Thank you! We thought it easier to just lump everything into one album. P.S. Your models are beautiful. Do you have plans to make any type of Sauropod skull? I feel that would be stunning. Link to comment
eaglephot Posted January 12, 2014 Really nice fossils. Though Keichousaurus aren't actually dinosaurs. Oh I see what you are saying. The tags. Those were made when I just began collecting. I haven't replaced them. Honestly, I don't understand why Keichousaurus isn't a dinosaur. The definition of dinosaur is a reptile from the mesozoic era. Keichousaurus became extinct at the close of the Triassic and was a marine reptile. Why aren't marine reptiles considered dinosaurs? Link to comment

That's a very bad definition, since there was many different reptiles in the Mesozoic era. There were Pterosaurs, marine reptiles, turtles, crocodiles etc. And none of them were dinosaurs. Dinosaurs were a group of animals that evolved from the Archosaurs about 130 mya and went extinct about 65 mya (expect birds). That's a good definition. Link to comment

Crocodiles and Pterosaurs are also classified as Archosaurs, but they are just cousins to the dinosaurs so to speak. Keichousaurs aren't even Archosaurs. They are more closely related to Nothosaurs. So they have nothing in common with Dinosaurs except their age really. So Marine Reptile is a better name for it. And thanks for the kind words. At the moment I don't have any plans for Sauropod skulls though. Link to comment
