Possible Reptile bones?

Upper Triassic Lockatong formation, North Bergen, NJ.

Granton Quarry.

Seems a bit bigger than the fish bones at the locality -

The long one is about 7/8th of an inch long, and 1/16th of an inch wide.

Bones and partial skeletons of Tanytrachelos ahynis, Icarosaurus siefkeri, and Hypuronector limnaios have been found in these sediments.

Since there is little detail in the bone, I am guessing maybe a rib, perhaps.

Also visible on this piece are the clam shrimp, Estheria ovata, and molds and casts of ostracods, Darwinula sp.

That would be exciting! Though its hard to tell from the photo. It seems unusually straight for a rib; compression might explain that however.

Jim,

I was thinking along the lines of the specialized "ribs" from the Icarosaurus that were part of the structure of their gliding "wings" - it appears to taper like those, and have a central groove similar to what I have seen from figures of Icarosaurus.... Either way, it is somewhat larger than the fish bones I found nearby.

Regards
