Its the first Xenacanth tooth Ive ever found in this formation and is older than my coal measure ones by 23.5 million years so really chuffed with it!

The prep was actually surprisingly easy thanks to it being in limestone, basically with all my limestone teeth I soak the matrix in vinegar then scrape off the weakened surface material under a scope with a needle then repeat this till its free.

With my coal measure teeth there's no lime content in the matrix but the compromise is this matrix tends to be much softer thankfully!
