Order Neogastropoda
Family Fasciolariidae

Pliculofusus acuta (Emmons, 1858)
Stratigraphy: Pinecrest Sand Member of the Tamiami Formation

Location:  APAC, Sarasota County, Florida USA.

Status: Extinct

Notes:  Most Plicofusus in the Pinecrest have been referred to as P. scalarina, however they appear closer to the Pliocene forms from the Carolinas.  P. acuta has fewer, but more prominent ribs than P. scalarina as well as more angulated whorls.
