Mikrogeophagus

Gauthieria sp., Central TX

Campanian, Cretaceous

Oct, 2023

A rare species of regular echinoid that is actually uncommon for my site. They manifest as flattened disks and are sometimes interspersed between heart urchins.

Reading the DPS newsletter this morning, I saw that they mentioned the name of the recently described Phymosamatid found by Linda Farish at Moss Creek. I believe this is the same species, Allomma lindarae! While extremely rare near the NSR, this echinoid, along with many unique heart urchins (Hemiaster, ?Diplodetus), are not unusual at a particular site in the Sprinkle Formation of Central Texas.
