Yes, visceral side of the plate is pretty tough. It looks to me like it probably is a dermal head plate probably from Hyneria but without the other side its hard to say.

Thank you both! I don't feel very confident about exposing the other side without it crumbling, so will likely leave as is and mark as Hyneria for now. Might be worth having an actual preparator take a stab at it though in the future, it's a nice-sized chunk and would be especially good to get rid of as much of the surrounding rock as possible since as-is it's quite a big rock
