Composita with Brachium preserved from the Winterset ls Composita Layer
This Composita specimen was unique and stunning as it has some internal preservation. Sadly the entire brachium isn't complete but it is still amazing to see it here regardless.
This was collected several years ago from the Winterset ls "Composita layer" from the Dennis formation. I always theorized these beds were lenticular as the other side of the road does not contain or at least have them exposed. Below is a wider image with some of the internal crystallization in the surrounding Composita.
