Hi all, I have the choice between these two T. rex teeth. One is shorter and fatter, 1.5” and the other longer around 2 - 3/8”. Former less cracked and better colouration. Latter longer but has some infill. The longer one base cross-section is a compressed oval since the base is the top of the root. The tooth body is not pinched. This and the larger size makes it a T rex tooth (according to the seller) and it is from Hell Creek, Powder River Co., Montana. There is also possible wear near the apex. The shorter one is perhaps “cleaner” with no infilling and is from Hell Creek, Isabel, So. Dakota. Shorter one “cleaner”, no infill but smaller. Longer one a little longer but has some crack infill. I gather that the length just might trump the presence of infill? Which would members recommend I go for? Thankyou

Hi, there. I had a question for how to identify a Tyrannosaurid's tooth which is a T.rex, Aspletosaurus, Gorgosaurus or Albertosaurus. Can we only distinguish the types of tooth fossils by the Formation where the tooth found, such as Hell Creek Formation or Lance (Creek) Formation ? Are there other possible criteria for distinguishing ? For example, the shape of the tooth or the measurement data. I was very confused because when I looked at the maxilla teeth of Tyrannosaurid' they all looked the same(Except for Nanotyrannus). Thanks for your guys answers and help.

Hello fellow fossil fanatics - I was recently almost tricked into purchasing an “african t-Rex” tooth. I am very interested though in purchasing the real thing. Anyone have any advice or tips on how to source and value appropriately? Thank you in advance for all your help!

Hi all, I may buy this trex tooth as my final trex tooth at some point. What do you think? I am aware these tooth are notoriously overpriced though. I've asked the seller for a basal photo of the tooth. Also it seems like it's missing a small bit of serrations but personally don't want a perfect specimem. Typically the seller wants someone to buy it now so is telling me that another person is also looking to buy this and another 3 5/16" trex tooth (with not as good surface quality) so if I want it buy it now..coincidence right? Considering it's been advertised for 2 weeks now lol. Hell Creek Formation, Montana Measures approx. 3 1/8″ long Thanks!
