All,

I found this fossil in a shale deposit of Pennsylvanian age in Northeastern Oklahoma. The shale is probably Chanute formation and contains other marine fossils. I would appreciate any help with ID.

Best wishes.

Straparollus. It looks similar to the coiled gastropod in McKinzie’s Color Guide to Pennsylvanian Fossils if North Texas. Get a copy if you collect Pennsylvanian fossils from Texas and neighboring states.

Maybe not first, but not a misstep. :)

Thanks, DPS Ammonite & Rockwood--that ID was very fast! Also, thanks for the book recommendation.

Best wishes.
