Bev
$3.99 head lamp at Harbor Freight - SO WORTH IT! 4 AAA batteries not included. Adjustable with velcro to fit most any head. The visor lifts out of the way, and in place doubles what you can see. The little magnifying glass is about 10x. Now I can actually see what I have! $1.99 for this brush set! Super for cleaning fossils! I LOVE Harbor Freight! Bev The more I learn, I realize the less I know. It has opened a whole new world of itsy bitsy fossils AND I can see the ones embedded in matrix better too! Bev The more I learn, I realize the less I know. Angus Stydens
Wow, thanks for this great tip! I am a jeweler by profession and this looks ideal for the close up work I do all the time. Not to mention how handy it will be for working with micro fossils, one of my favorite pasttimes. You convinced me.... I just bought two of them. For that price, it is easy to afford a back up set. Bev
You are welcome Angus! They also have a BIG sale going on for July 4th. Coupon for 25% off any one item. I am currently lusting after a 6' wood work bench with 4 easy slide drawers and a clamp on the side--PERFECT for working on fossils, but $159.00 With 25% off I may be able to afford it, or not... And I think I am going to buy a couple more of those headlamps, one for the field and a couple to gift out. PFOOLEY
For those interested, I found an eight dollar engraving pen at Harbor Freight. Works well on sandstone. Bev
For those interested, I found an eight dollar engraving pen at Harbor Freight. Works well on sandstone. I bought one too last winter and it works well on limestone also. The more I learn, I realize the less I know.
