Big Brook nj find

Hi.  Big Brook find need an I'd please.   Think the tooth is a sawfish, but I think I found a rib of some sort.  Big Brook site, Monmouth NJ, December 23 2019.    Should I sent this to NJSM?

sawfish looks right. The bone I can not help you with. Even modern bone gets stained and a little heavy in those streams. Others will have to weigh in on it. Nice finds.

I think you have it right. It's less likely that the ID will go much further, but we have some well experienced  folks from around that site on here.

I agree with sawfish; Ischyrhiza mira for the tooth. The bone, like others said it could be modern or fossil, hard to tell from a photo. Is it heavy or light for it's size?

Thank u all.   Feels light to me, but I have no comparisons to base it on.   Really new to this.

Sounds like road kill. It may lighten in color as it dries out.

I have found deer carcasses in those New Jersey streams on a few occasions, so I'm guessing the bone is a deer.

I've seen lots of live deer in that stream too. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the bone is deer. I'm not ID-ing it though, it's just an observation.
