New Members RebeckaM Posted January 19, 2020 New Members Posted January 19, 2020 Picked this up at Charmouth Beach (UK) where mainly marine fossils are found (ammonites, echinoderms etc) but not sure what this might be. It's hollow and the inside has the light brown bumpy impressions running all the way through. Any suggestions on ID are appreciated!
New Members RebeckaM Posted January 21, 2020 Author New Members Posted January 21, 2020 Adding some more photos. At one end of the object there is a lot of pitting in the interior surface, with no uniform shape. At the other end I've noticed there is a ridge inside, which is hopefully visible in photo 2 in the top section of the interior. I believe the rock type surrounding it is flint, so that almost definitely means it's from a sea creature. I would really love for some help on this one!
Notidanodon Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 Doesn’t look to fossiliferous to me , if it’s flint it could be some cast of a sponge or something hing
New Members RebeckaM Posted January 21, 2020 Author New Members Posted January 21, 2020 That is helpful, thank you I have never seen an imprint of a sponge in this shape before, but that would explain all the little holes inside it
