Huntonia
Did a quick prep on a small E. rana today. My scribe continues to give me grief so I mostly used abrasive with this one. I actually quite like the compressed face on this one, looks a bit goofy. I've also been trying out time lapses of my prep work, my videography skills definitely need some fine-tuning. Huntonia
Eldredgeops rana, this one was slow going. The rock was very hard, even with dolomite the abrasive was time consuming. Looks pretty nice I think.

Top Trilo
Yay another Trilo prep, you did a good job. 1 “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. Huntonia
Thanks guys! I've got about 20 more to prep but I'll be posting those in blocks instead of individually. Meanwhile I'm working on some other odds and ins. Here's a Balteurypterus tetragonophtalmus I did yesterday

Huntonia
Finished the first 7 of my 20 E. rana, starting with the lesser bugs and working my way up to the nicer ones. Kane
Doing great work, Isaac! Just watched the time lapse video. You might be able to shave some time planing with the scribe a bit rather than the poking. That levels the matrix as you go, and spares you the time in doing the landscaping at the end. You poke close to the pleural tips, but level a bit along the way. In the end, it means less tool marks when you abrade. But there is no arguing with good results! 2 1 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Huntonia
It's been way too long since I posted anything on here! I'll have more to post soon but here's a recent project, a Calymene breviceps from the Silurian Waldron Shale. Lots of slow abrasion on this one. Could use a little more work on the cephalon but for now I'm pleased with it.

I posted my prep of this feller's cousin (from the same vender on our favorite auction site)- so much fun to see the others from the same group cleaned up! Mine was trying to chomp down on a nice chunk of pyrite directly in front of the cephalon, that took some finagling to work around and cost me a dremel bit , but good experience. Yep, pyrite seems pretty common in the Waldron, including cubes. I decided to leave a couple spots of pyrite on the trilo

Yeah I remember seeing that, you did a great job! I'm really impressed at how well you did without air tools, I haven't had much luck in the past with just hand tools and dremel on trilos. That pyrite can be annoying to work with! Keep going and good luck!

Keep going and good luck! Thanks! Looks lovely with air-scribe as well! The slow activity is good for me- keeps me off of my phone in the evenings, and a brief stint in pottery and my lab-science skills both turn out to be very applicable to manual fossil prep! The pyrite cubes are tricky but it’s kind of fun in a silly way to have a little bit of bling on a trilobite- really changes the aesthetic of the whole piece! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your work!

I have no shortage of things to prep, hopefully I'll have a few more Eldredgeops to post tomorrow. School starts back up on Monday for me so my free time is about to drop off harshly but I'll still be prepping on the weekends and evenings when I can. I can't wait to see more of your work! I think I have some spare unprepped material lying around I'd be happy to gift you if you're interested. Feel free to send me a PM
Huntonia
For once I'm actually on time getting my prep done Here's 4 E. rana First up is a pretty decent one, with a mildly squashed head. Next is a loose thorax with a loose cephalon. This one could use a lot more abrasive work but I didn't feel like it was worth spending the time and dolomite on a headless bug. Next up is a large damaged cephalon, if complete this trilo would have likely been well over 3 inches in length. And lastly is a small bug that cleaned up nicely, definitely my favorite of this group. I don't have a before picture unfortunately. Not really sure what this is on the back, can't say I'm very familiar with the non-trilo inverts from Penn Dixie
