bigade
Hi all, I come from the UK and was wondering, if I could afford a holiday to the USA, where do you think would be a good place to go? I would like to do some fossil collecting but I know the laws over there are different to here. Also, bearing in mind that the wife needs something to do while I'm out fossil collecting. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance Ade
erose
Wow, That's a big question being that the US is kind of big. What are you and your wife's other interests: nature, history, music, art, etc? And how long a trip? There are places you could go where the collecting would be abundant like the Cincinnati Region, Central Texas, upstate New York to name a few I know well. Beautiful scenery in all if you like nature. Each also has plenty of museums and other cultural places to visit. Weather can be an issue. Don't do Texas in the summer and the other two can get real cold from october to march. Also what kinds of fossils are you after? Cincinnati and New York are full of paleozoic marine fossils. Texas is mostly Cretaceous marine.

barefootgirl
Yes, don't do Texas in the summer! In formal logic, a contradiction is the signal of defeat: but in the evolution of real knowledge, it marks the first step in progress toward victory.
