Shellseeker
At first I thought dugong, but now I am unsure. I am still thinking marine mammal. @Boesse That would also make sense from where it was found. Un_fused epiphysis means juvenile. Tidgy's Dad
Looks like dugong to me with my limited knowledge. The dugong is a marine mammal. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Mahnmut
@ Tidgys Dad: "unsure about Dugong, still thinking marine mammal" makes sense. I associate these unfused epiphyses with whales, not sure if only juveniles. I do not know much about Sirenians, but it seems quite big to me? Haven t seen that triangular shape in whales on the other hand. Courious to hear the experts. Boesse
This is a baleen whale posterior thoracic vertebra. Sirenian vertebrae are usually heart shaped.
