Evans
A couple of weeks ago Dan Woehr and I had a chance to hit the Anacacho (Campanian) formation and absolutely cleaned up on the echinoids. In addition to the echinoids (not yet prepped) I managed to extract a baculite plate unlike anything I have ever found. The gastropod centered and just to the right of the two smaller baculites on the left is also a first for me with an almost complete aperture and digitation. I believe this to be Drepanochilus sp. I could use some help with the baculite ID. Thanks Brian Edited December 26, 2009 by Evans Brian Evans For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong. Bear
Yeah, excellent plate and a great find. Is there any chance that you could post up a larger pic of the bacculite to show better the geometry of the shell pattern? I would be most appreciative indeed. Plantguy
Brian, quite a nice assemblage! I've not seen a multiple plate before like that especially with the suturing pattern so clear. Admittedly I've lived a very sheltered life!! Hopefully someone can run down the species for you. Thanks for posting. Regards, Chris
