Serack
So I haven't found a place in South Eastern VA (Hampton roads area) yet for shark tooth hunting, so I haven't been out since I moved here in August. since I came down to south FL for the holidays, and I saw that G-ville might have gotten some storms on Christmas, I drove up yesterday to try to get as much of a fix as I could. After 7 hours of walking my favorite stream (including the walk back) I have some nice finds to show for my efforts. The nice butter colored meg was found within a minute of my wife calling asking when I was coming home at hour #6. I actually was thinking "man those serrations look sharp, I wonder if they can cut skin, and lightly ran it across my finger wondering if it would score the callus. Well it actually barely cut low enough to draw blood like a minor paper cut that stung the whole 3.5 hour ride back to the in-laws. I only have one other tooth that is in better shape than this one and it is barely an inch and a half, so this is possibly my nicest find. I will compare it to my other megs when I get back to VA. I also found my second small porpoise/dolphin like tooth. Is this some kind of toe bone? I wouldn't have thought a virt would have the hemisphere on the end... I am thinking this is a chunk of a VERY large crocadillian tooth. This chunk of a stingray barb has a reeealy big diameter. Serack
Great stuff. We are going to hit some creeks in Gainesville Monday with Del and a few others. I hope we find a few nice things also. Are you walking or sifting? If sifting and looking for a place to go, last year when I was exploring, I saw a nice gravel deposit at where glen springs creek meets possum creek, but things can change a lot in a year with that stuff. Do you have yocals to help out?

barefootgirl
You did good. Like those teeth.
