Fossil or pottery?

Found on lake michigan. Im not sure how to tell the difference between fossil and a piece of pottery. Any advice?

That is very interesting for sure but I believe that it is geologic in origin.

It looks like it might be a trace fossil something like Asterosomas to me

Lake Michigan bryozoa can look like that

This one if mine I was told is an iron concretion, really like it so it's in my garden now

Also that would look very cool polished up with a rock tumbler!
