This image is from Wikimedia I thought it would be of interest to see an illustration of these strange trees .

Bobby  Where did you find this illustration?  I would like to know the names of the trees illustrated.

I think this is a piece of petrified wood. I found it on private property in Arizona south of the lava fields. The owners were friends of relatives of mine and they had a huge rock pile that I was given free reign. I hope this is a scale tree something. Apologies for the poor quality and if anyone wants a close up, I can use a real camera instead of the phone. The first picture is the top.

Crock Hay open cast mine, Wigan

Very nice , I think the opencast mine has been filled in now and has grass all over it? A lot of fantastic material has came from this site.  I did go close to that site on the 90s with a local guy, It was after some pipe work was laid , I found a couple of bits I think. Thanks for adding to my thread. Cheers Bobby

I believe it has been covered over.

But one still sees material on offer now and then

I have a few other Lycopods from Crock Hay.

Must search through my photos on my phone

It was a prolific site In it’s time but sadly with all the colliers In UK been closed . We now have lost the opportunity to see the fossils that mines keep secret . I think the site is also called Crockhay . Please add the image if you find them it this thread. Cheers Bobby
