Great collection! I've only found a couple of tiny shells (tests) and some spines. Looks like they are much more numerous in the Cretaceous

Yes, we are blessed to have an abundance of echinoids in the Cretaceous. There are at least 25 more that I have not yet found!  So at least I am over half way there....hahahhah

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Hi there

How did you get the very first on the post cleaned?

It's being "professionally" cleaned - I am pretty sure he is using an air abrading system.

Epic Echies

Epic indeed!  The Heterosalenia (rykyrae) is stunning, both clean and uncleaned.  If these were mine (if I were so lucky!), I'd be hard pressed to choose my favorite.  Now I am tempted to take my upcoming sabbatical in Texas!

He uses brushes and tiny needles...and has way more patience than me.

Excellent echinoids, Jamie!!!  They're all so beautiful, but I think my favourite is the Pliotoxaster - its colour is stunning!!!

How did you clean your Heterosalenia?  It's absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, needles, brushes, water, alcohol, KOH, and vinegar...all sparingly.

Jealous of #1 the fossils, #2 your ability to identify and photograph them so well and #3 a brain young enough to keep track of > 20 different species! Great job

:D hahhaha!! I suspect it has less to do with "ability" and more to do with obsessiveness. I tend to go a bit overboard on my "hobbies".
