Per Christian
Hello all, I'm thinking of buying this carcharodontosaurus tooth, it's 78 mm long, but it looks a little restored in my unprofessional eyes. What do people here think?
Guns
Hi ! @Per Christian Nice size tooth ! BUT There is quite a bit of Enamel peel on this tooth and some worn down serrations both Mesial and distal side and IMO look like a little bit of restoration to the tip . let see what others say! Cheers! Guns.
paulyb135
I would personally avoid this tooth. There looks to be a significant amount of restoration and the serrations aren’t crisp. there will be better carcharodontosaurus teeth out there for sure
-Andy-
The parts I highlighted are those I suspect to be repaired or restored If you don't mind a restored tooth and this tooth is within your budget, you can consider it 1 Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!
Per Christian
Thanks guys. It's at an auction site so I'll keep an eye on it but I won't pay much for it. My impression is that teeth longer than 2 inches are becoming rare and expensive, so I've figured it could be a good one if the price is right. It really helps to know what I'm buying. I appreciate your feedback
