Vnaz50
San Antonio, Tx This rock doesn’t look like any of the chert or limestone I’ve found so far. Not sure what it is. It looks to be covered in iron. My hands don’t smell like a penny.
JohnJ
This rock looks like it has been in an acid bath. That will disguise the rock texture and react with some of the minerals to affect color at times. So, this rock will appear to be things it is not...the upside is what appears to be a scallop like fossil embedded in the rock. That and the acid etched surface suggests limestone with a heavy iron presence...maybe decayed pyrite. 2 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
Vnaz50
This wasn’t in the acid very long. The second similar piece was left in a little longer.
