GeschWhat Posted March 29, 2021 Share Posted March 29, 2021 Sorry, I'm just seeing matrix - no fossils. I think the dark colors are a result of the different minerals. It is probably a good thing it isn't bone. Others will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is illegal to collect fossils at that location. Actually, I don't even think you are suppose to collect rocks there without a permit. jpc Posted March 30, 2021 Share Posted March 30, 2021 yeah, if it really from within Dinosaur National Monument, it is very much not allowed. The black speck under r in Morrison in the first picture might be a fleck of bone. But otherwise, there is no bone here. Or... the dark stuff in the last photo (I just saw it now) might be the thin layer that sometimes reamins where a bone has been taken out of the rock.
