Welsh Wizard
I’ve just picked up this watercolour that I’ve had framed. It’s an old painting from 1842, showing a view from an old part of Lyme Regis, looking across to Golden Cap in the distance. The famous fossil collector Mary Anning died in 1847 and would’ve seen this view on a regular basis. She may have witnessed the watercolor being painted or even seen the finished painting. Whatever the history, I love the painting and it’ll be added to my collection. 1

It looks like the signature is under the original mount and I didn’t want to separate them in case I damaged the painting.
pachy-pleuro-whatnot-odon
What a spectacular piece of history! To think there may be a connection to Mary Anning, however insignificant, it's just awesome, the cliffs themselves as beautiful as ever...! I just live those cliffs!
