Another larger Peronceras fibulatum

Period: Middle Toarcian, Lias Epsilon, Early Jurassic Find Spot: Whitby, Yorkshire, England

Peronceras fibulatum is very common and can be distinguished from the similar looking Dactylioceras by the tubercles which project from the whorls of the shell.

This is from  Runswick Bay probably my favourite Yorkshire place. I would love to live there.

A very compressed I think it is another Eliganticeras ? Very fragile and large so it is staying in the drawer to be photographed

Now for something completely different. This fragment was given to me cut , I just polished it  and it turned out nicely. I don’t know 100% the ID on it but it was to nice to throw away.
it is from Scunthorpe .

Scunthorpe has some of the most beautiful of the U.K’s ammonites but I have never been there .

I really like Seatown but I have not been for many years. I always did well there for ammonites .I have heard that it is not as good as it was in the 90s. Loparoceras has some quality to it but missing the centre . The display side is good.

Quite rare Liparoceras Bechiceras Gallicum

Quenstedtoceras lamberti is the index species of the Upper Callovian lamberti ammonite zone, the last one before the Oxfordian. The genus is called after Friedrich August von Quenstedt, a German geologist. The species was erected by J.Sowerby in 1821. He wrote: "The shells ... are all from the clay which occurs in Portland Island and near Weymouth: the first species is very abundant ; the two others are less frequent ; The first I have received from Dr. Leach and A. B. Lambert, Esq." (and named after him)

This preservation is typical for Dubki quarry in Saratov Oblast, not far from the city of Saratov.

Graphoceratid I believe they have had different names in the past and are now also I think thought be a morphospecies. Classic old school collectors favourite .
