New Members Ryan.C Posted November 8, 2021 New Members Share Posted November 8, 2021 Found this fossil on the bank of the Bow River just below the Bassano Dam in Alberta while I was fishing. Pretty sure is is a fossil but not sure what from. Let me know of any more info is needed.
Tidgy's Dad
Section of a straight shelled, heteromorph ammonite, with some of the shell material preserved, I believe. Beautiful. Nice find. Something akin to Baculites. Edited November 8, 2021 by Tidgy's Dad 1 1 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
New Members Ryan.C Posted November 8, 2021 Author New Members Share Posted November 8, 2021 (edited) Thank you for the info! I was wondering as well if the color was from the animal when it was alive or of it is apart of the fossilization process. I do plan to go back in the spring and see if I can find more in the same area. Edited November 8, 2021 by Ryan.C
Ludwigia
A bit of Baculite. Very nice! The color is from the nacre of the shell. 1 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
