I brought a piece of marl from my trip to France that had some interior bits sticking out. The location is Pointe du Chay (south of La Rochelle) and age Kimmeridgian - Jurrassic.
Two of the pieces I prepped out this weekend (first successful attempt in doing so despite too much glue). The  tube like structure and what I first expected to be a bivalve from the outside but I don’t know any with a hexagonal pattern.

thanks in advance for your help

i guess that the first is a worm tunnel and the other a bryozoan  i expect more knowledgeable people will come by and give more information.

I don't claim to be more knowledgeable about this, but I have a feeling this is something different.

The shapes are familiar. The arrangement and time period are just strange though. :s_confused:

The worm tunnel has texture and the flat object seem to lack any pores / openings.

The hexagonal pattern is seen in Paleozoic corals and deep water trace fossils, but it seems out of place on a shell like this.

The tubes look kind of like worm tubes, but there is a plant like quality to them as well. I'm not sure what to make of it.

The site is rich in corrals probably a reef like environment so deep water can be ruled out at least. Could the “worm” be a Bryozoan?

I would guess there may be a tube worm and a Paleodictyon, but probably I'm wrong (at least about the latter).

I’m not very familiar with Jurassic fossils. No idea on IDs for your fossils.

Thanks for looking into it.
