No butts about it

I passed this by assuming it to be a cigarette butt. Later on @Lone Hunter handed it to me saying this looks like a cigarette butt.

It was found loose in Bear Creek, likely Eagle Ford formation, in the Fort Worth area.

Any idea what it is ?

Are any sutures visible?  It may just be a weathered phosphate nodule.

No. That's why I broke it off and collected it. To check under a lens.

The rod shape makes me think it is most likely a trace fossil. The lining of them is often distinct.
