T-Rex Egg? Maybe? or Maybe not?

Is this a T Rex Egg Fossil? or just a really large 6 or so inch rock that looks like one? The guy selling this told me that before he removes anything from where he finds these, he gets local Paleontologists to check them out. Thoughts?

I say it is just a rock. Also, generally dinosaur eggs are not tied to a specific taxon.

The buckets of gravel in the background don’t inspire much trust for me.

Come visit the Great Lakes area. We have eggs like that coming out of our ears.

Mark.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

we do not know what T rex eggs look like or even if they laid eggs (although that part is likely).  What sort of paleontologist is saying these are rex eggs? They are rocks; they have no egg texture at all.

He certainly has quite the rock collection. That would give me pause as well ....

Part of being a collector is education.  I suggest you take the time an educate yourself with a topic on dinosaur eggs written by a REAL paleontologist who specializes on eggs.

Indeed! Most definitely just a worn cobble that in no way resembles a real dinosaur egg. This rock would not even be worth the cost of shipping. You did well by checking this claim before parting with any money.

Cheers.
