Hemipitchis
My father and I went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History at the beginning of March (would have posted this sooner but I couldn't find the camera). It was the first time I had ever been there and the first time in a long time that my dad had seen the museum...and it was AWESOME! I absolutely loved going there and viewing all of the exhibits...but I must say (while it does sound slightly corny) that the best part of the trip was spending time with my dad. That just made my weekend. I took about 170 pictures, so if you don't want to see more of my bad photography skills, please let me know because otherwise, I'll just keep posting em in here. Can't believe I had never been there until this March. There are so many amazing places to see in DC, it's awesome. Well alrighty! Hemipitchis
Here are some more- Just so y'all know, Crinus has specimens on display there! Really? WOW! That's awesome!!! Hey, if I didn't get a chance to take a pic of his fossils, maybe we could nudge him into posting a few pics of em in this thread? That would be just great. And anybody else who has pics of their trips to this great museum....they're welcome here! Would love to see em! What happened to the Basilosaurus? Are you referring to this exhibit? No worries, I was getting to this, but I don't have all of the pics sized to fit the forum yet. I also have a better picture of it, but I thought I would first show the one with the background representation of what one would have looked like. I have plenty more pics to show...just haven't been able to post em all yet. Please be patient with me. However... Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of everything because the camera's battery ran out towards the end of the trip. I am sorry. Smaug
Hey, I would love to go to the US (exept maybe for the strict airport control procedures, but that is another story) the Smithsonian will be one of the first stops. That must be one great museum! I'll try to make some pictures in some of the (smaller) but nontheless interessting dutch museum (Naturalis, Natuurhistorisch Museum Maastricht and Teylers Museum). TygerTyger
That was a great read, the Smithsonian looks like an amazing palce to visit. We went to the Natural History Museum in London last year, which is an excellent place but I don't think that even it could compare to the Smithsonian. If only I had the funds to travel to America for more than just visiting Florida!

Haddy
Yea, those are mine. They are on a 30 year loan to the Smithsonian. Thanks, Auspex for reposting them. crinus Very cool! And nice photos, Riley. For those who haven't yet been there, the museum is terrific. Admission is free to all the museums (which are within walking distance of each other and other landmarks like the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials), and there's too much to see in a weekend. I always spend lots of time there, and then over to Air and Space. Seldom have time to get to the sculpture garden but that's real good too.
