Tr0xy
Hello. I found this rock in a creek of the Feather River Canyon in Northern Callifornia. It's an area known for its granite formations and serpentine outcrops. This rock was definatly out of place with nothing similar in the area. It weighs 1.25lb or .57kg. No reaction to vinager. Any ideas on what it is would be appreciated. Thank you!
Tr0xy
There is some geothermal activity in this canyon. Some hot springs and a geothermal spring on the Feather River , up river from where this creek feeds into it. Tr0xy
So I got a reply on Mindat.org that suggested this rock is listwanite. The geology and serpentine outcrops fits as well as the description. I have never heard of Listwanite before. Here is the link thanks to Demetrius on mindat.org https://blogs.agu.org/georneys/2012/03/12/monday-geology-picture-listwanite-hills-in-the-sultanate-of-oman/
