John
Don't know if forum members are aware of it, but Cloudina is even found in California. It's essentially a tiny, almost amorphous tube that may be part of a larger animal. There is also debate regarding whether it is actually Precambrian or should be considered an index fossil for the very earliest Cambrian. It always appears above the Ediacaran faunas worldwide. “When you're riding in a time machine way far into the future, don't stick your elbow out the window, or it'll turn into a fossil.” - Jack Handy
