Dino Dad 81
Hi All, Curious to know if this hunk of chunkasaurus from Weston county Lance formation can be place in a family. Also, I marked a set of holes along the top to see if you think they could be tooth marks.
jpc
This looks like a chunk of ceratopsian frill. I see some traces of grooves that are pretty typical, esp in the third photo. 1
hadrosauridae
I agree that this looks like a chunk of Trike frill. The holes you are seeing look like blood vessel canals in the bone. Trike frills were VERY vascular, and is the one aspect that makes then stand out from all the other random dino bone chunks found. 1 "There is no shortage of fossils. Can you distinguish trike from the other ceratopsians there (Nedo/Toro)? I assume we can rule out Lepto by the size. If you believe some theories, they are all ontogenetic morphs of the same animal, so then the answer would be "they are all the same". I'm not of that camp, so not sure. 1 "There is no shortage of fossils. Dino Dad 81
Thank you! @Troodon Do you think the coincidental equal spacing between for 4 main holes--and the U shape they form together--might suggest they're bite marks?

No. Those are simply blood/nerve grooves.
