A friend of mine had given this to me. There are pockets of crystals. And one weird pocket of rust looking dust. Had some fire agate on it

Definitely seeing some agatization but could you zoom in on some of the pockets/areas you think are fiery? If you could wet the rock that would be good too. Where did your friend find this?

My friend said he found it on the side of the road in our area, and he took me there and I found some little chunks but that's it.

Looks like botryoidal chalcedony & some quartz druze stained with iron oxide but not any fire agate.

Fire agate is a chalcedony with layers of crystalized  iron minerals (goethite or hematite), that forms in volcanic rock. The iron layers are typically a dark brown and most do not show any color. flash The agate often has to be polished for the color flash to be seen.

The material shown does look like the right type of agate, but I can not see any fire in the pictures.

I could see the large vug on this piece having some great potential for "fire"...very cool to see a piece like this.

Many, many moons ago, I collected some fire agates along our shared state line border...they looked just like this...I would bet with the right lighting you could capture those great "firey" flashes.
