Shark tooth? Odd and rare.

Is this a shark tooth? It is perfect in shape, (as I pictured in my mind.) Wife is saying no because it looks fossilized and still white. Any insight will be helpful.

In most cases, this one in fact, shape alone does not a fossil make. Yes, it is triangular like a tooth, BUT....an actual fossil shark tooth will look...like a shark tooth. It will have enamel and distinction between the blade and the root. Best thing for you to do is to google shark teeth in Florida and you will start to see images that will help you discern what is and is not a fossil. Fossils can be just about any color, too. What would be your guess. Is this a piece of coral by chance?

Good new is you are in Florida which might as well be the shark tooth capital of the world! With a little googling and some exploration, you have pretty good chances for finding some real shark teeth, even megalodon.

Life is easier if we accept our better halves are right especially when they are. Better luck next time.
