Hello, in the previous year I bought ammonite in my small town in Poland. Recently, I read that many ammonites from Morocco (and this one looks like he was from Morocco) is either slightly counterfeit or not true. I asked about identification on the Polish Facebook group, and they told me that it could be slightly carved, but the original ammonite. What do you think? Thank you in advance. Sorry for possible mistakes :)

It is real, but they have been rather heavy-handed with carving the matrix out of the grooves between the ribs, which is often the case.

Often these ammonites are found incomplete and the missing parts are carved out to make them look whole.

But this one was carved and butchered on the real part

Thank you very much!
