Misha
Hi everyone, I'm a little bored up here in NH and decided to drive down to Hamburg NY to collect at Penn Dixie, I haven't been there in quite a while and since I unfortunately couldn't make it to DWTE earlier this year I thought now might be a good time to go. I'm hoping to start driving in the afternoon Monday after I'm finished with work, and depending on how it goes getting there late that night or early next morning, collecting there that day on Tuesday and potentially going to some other spots on 18m creek or a bit south of the area, And finally driving back Wednesday. I wanted to post on here to see if anyone else is in the area, I have met up with a few members of TFF and it has been fantastic, I've really enjoyed it and would love to meet more. Let me know, I'll post what I find on that trip here once I get back.

Just a comment on the trip date in your post title, 11/7/23 means November 7, 2023 to me and will mean the same to US collectors. I know other parts of the world use day/month/year, but in the US we use month/day/year. Marco Sr. 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." Fossildude19
I've changed the title topic to add clarity. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Misha
Hello everyone, Apologies for the very late update, lots of things have gotten in the way lately. The trip was great, I collected many fossils some of which I'm still looking through. Not too many new species I don't think, but still very fun overall. Brachiopods: As usual, many Rhipidomella sp. found here, this is a few examples but I found many many more of these. Some strophomenids, I think I found some of these last time but they were all incomplete, luckily this time I got a couple nice ones. I believe these are Protodouvillina sp.? Also very common in the shales are Spinatrypa spinosa, despite being very common these are one of my favorite brachiopods here, I love their form and their spines which are unfortunately not too common to find still attached to the shell. Some various spiriferids This one doesn't have the greatest preservation and parts of the shell are missing but I really love when there are other organisms attached to brachiopod so I couldn't just leave this Mediospirifer with Aulopora behind Two more Mediospirifer valves, nicer preservation and the one in front also has a tabulate coral attached, either Favosites or Pleurodictyum These might be my favorites from this trip, I believe these are two Elita Fimbriata specimens. I have one from DSR, but none from Penn Dixie and the preservation especially on the larger specimen in the first picture seems very nice. I don't know how uncommon these brachs are but I don't come across them too often Another Atrypid, I think this one might be a compressed Pseudoatrypa devoniana, I found quite a few specimens of this species also though I forgot to take photos of them. Some pieces with multiple species of brachiopods together: Found a couple Orbiculoidea too, this is the nicer of the two. I have always loved inarticulate brachiopods and finding this was exciting. Bivalves: I found more bivalves this time than on my first trip, maybe got a better eye for them since they're much less visible in the matrix than the brachs. Was super excited when I found this while splitting shale, unfortunately I could not find where the positive was, this is the only pteriomorph I have from Penn Dixie. Not too sure about the ID, some species of Pseudoaviculopecten? Trilobites: As usual I found a number of complete Eldredgeops, and some incomplete specimens of the less common species. None of the Eldredgeops split too well so they're mostly in the matrix, I might have them prepped at some point but I'm not sure at this point. Here are two examples I also found this complete prone Greenops sp. unfortunately lost the negative so I am not going to be able to get this one cleaned up any better, but at the same time trilos aren't a big focus for me so I am not too upset about that. Also picked up some loose Favosites from there, last time I went the only coral I found were the Rugosans so these were nice to add to the collection and while there a nice break from splitting shale to picking through loose matrix pieces. These are all the pictures I have currently but as I continue sorting the finds, I'll add more if I find anything interesting
Isotelus2883
There is a Pseudoatrypa in the middle of the Spinatrypa. Nice finds.
bockryan
The favosites are very nice! I will look more carefully for those next trip, I have never found any. That Greenops is lovely as well

Yes, I accidentally put that in there due to the shape, it is a flattened Pseudoatrypa devoniana
