EmilieLee
On our recent trip to Cape May Nj we stayed bay side in Villas and I found some pretty cool finds! The first photos I’m pretty sure are coral fossils (based on browsing this site) but the last few photos I am stumped. Any help would be great! My problem may be I have to great an imagination when it comes to rocks!

Fossildude19
Most of these look like tabulate corals. @FossilDAWG @TqB 2 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." TqB
I agree with Tim. Siphonodendron is only one of quite a number of possibilities (that one is Carboniferous) so the question mark is right. There are a lot of rugose corals that look broadly similar to this and without more photos (including transverse sections) and source geology you can't really say. I gather there's a wide range of ages of derived material possible here? 1 Tarquin

There seems to be a lot of glacial erratics at this locality, from the highlands of New Jersey and New York. Most finds tend to be corals of one sort or another, and the occasional rare brachiopod/trilobite other paleozoic critters. Thanks for your insight, Tarquin. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
