Elasmonut
Ive been trying to "assemble" a "set" of Serratolamna ascheroni. I have based the dentition on a blue shark/Hemipristis dentition. I would like some advice about, the difference in uppers and lowers. In the pics on the bottom row I have tried to show the two versions I think are viable. The left is Prionace, the right Hemi based "set" Which one looks right? Open to advice, critique, or refrences.
val horn
That is quite the project . You may want to email the authors of scientific papers on that particular species for advice.
Al Dente
Nice. I wish I could help but I don’t have experience with that species. What are your other tooth sets off to the sides of your photos?
MarcoSr
Really nice specimens. Like Eric, I don't have a lot of experience with that species. I do, however, see a few teeth that could be other species. For example, see the two teeth circled in red below. I can't see a nutrient grove or nutrient pore in the picture for these two teeth and they have a deep U shape to the root. Marco Sr. 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day."
