Unknown Black Water Fossilized Bone

Hello everyone,

I'm at a bit of a loss with this one. I found it 2 days ago diving the Cooper River, in Charleston,  SC. There are many interesting finds there,  but they are often difficult to ID, as the river cuts through various prehistoric layers and the fossils all collect on the bottom. On this one particular dive,  I found both Angustiden and Meg teeth, a giant ground sloth claw, mammoth ivory, and this specimen. Obviously not fully intact, I'm hoping to somewhat unique ball-joint (for lack of a better term)  might be something that at least one of you will recognize. There is a natural hole near the joint, which I assume was for a nerve bundle. The bone tapers out and becomes nearly flat. One side has a very distinct ridge. From my limited experience,  it looks like it might be part of a lower jaw bone, but have no idea from what. I'm very open to your input. Thank you for taking the time.

Looks like a tibia of some sort, but, in it's eroded state, and lack of scale, ... I'm not sure what more can be said about it.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Before reading the texr, I also thought jaw bone, but cannot support that impression.

BestRegards,
