Fossil found on beach

I found this on the beach of the puget sound near a very high eroding bluff. It’s about 2 inches in diameter, with a distinct center and spiral shape. Does anyone have any ideas about what it might be?

Is the shape spiral, or concentric?

To me, this looks like a concretion, which are usually made up of concentric layers of sediment.

I would like to see other photos.  concretion may be the most likely outcome oyher possibilities still remain such as piece of wood or piece of tusk.

Yes, maybe it is a concretion. I’m still a little confused about what those are but am doing some reading. Thanks for the suggestion. Here are a couple other photos:

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Although wikipedia may not be the best of all scientific sources, to get a first overview I think that entry is fine:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concretion

Concretions do turn up often in the ID-section, they can mimick all kinds of biological structures , most notoriously, eggs), and everything layered.

They can also contain real fossils, that under certain circumstances trigger their formation.

Look for Mason creek or crab nodule in the forum search.

Nice conretion by the way, I would have also kept it.

Best regards,

Very, very nice example of a concretion. Textbook!
