Found this piece in the shale bed along the Little Smoky River in Northern Alberta a few years ago. It looks like a seed pod because of the sharp points all around its length, but could it be coprolite?

Looks a bit like a weathered conifer cone, to me.  :unsure:

I would expect a more defined pattern in a cone. Is there a hole at one of the ends? Could you please show us photos of the ends and the back side.
