Amethyst and quartz on a chunk of igneous rock would be my suggestion.

Moved to FOSSIL ID.

Welcome.

Well, it definitely is a cool looking rock, but it isn't a skull crushed flat and turned to quartz by unknown forces.  :)

I don't see a fossil but when you have one to ask about you get a better answer if we know the age. If you don't know the age of the deposits where it was found then a location may tell us.

Hi Jakob and welcome to the forum.

While of course I do see the similarity to a human skull and even more similarity to some famous skull fossils, I do agree with the others that this is not a fossil skull, but a coincidental lookalike. Very cool one.

The part that makes this most clear to me is the maxilla, where there is neither any remnant of teeth to be seen, nor any traces of alveoli, tooth sockets, that I would expect if the teeth where simply missing.

Best Regards,

J
