My haul from Greens Mill Run, NC!

This is the first serious fossil hunting I’ve been able to do in a very long time and it was awesome! I stopped here on a whim for an afternoon on a return trip from vacation and it was absolutely worth it. Despite being poorly equipped (I literally threw together a small sifter with stuff from the hardware store and a staple gun), I think I came out pretty well! 
 

Definitely going to have to make a return trip sometime, I think the conditions were less than optimal this time around. It seemed like the water level was higher than usual because of the hurricane, so I think a lot of the usual spots were inaccessible.

 

I wore my Tevas and am incredibly lucky not to have lacerated the snarge out of my feet/legs - there’s an insane amount of broken glass in the creek. I would definitely bring waders next time.

Very nice finds, I love the little Peedee belemnites! That creek can indeed be a bit iffy with the trash sometimes, especially by the ballpark area.

 

I've been itching to get back out there and hunt the area again, especially now we're getting those cooler early autumn temperatures. I may just have to get out there one weekend this month!

Great finds! Look up Calvert Cliffs. Probably only a couple hour drive for you from N. Virginia, depending on your location.
