New Members Samty27 Posted November 23, 2023 New Members Share Posted November 23, 2023 Help! So we found this in our backyard and we’re pretty sure it’s a fossil. Any help identifying what it could be ? Found in Middle Tennessee, Dekalb County Husband did the “lick test” he found online and it is sticky 🤣
Danielb
Rock. The (stick test) just shows if it is porous.

Fin Lover
I've heard "lick test", not "stick test", but I don't recommend licking any fossils. I think it is geological but may have fossils on it. Those who know inverts will have to ID, because I don't. 2 Fin Lover
Tidgy's Dad
I love licking fossils, not that I think it has any particular benefit. Tidgy does too. 4 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

And yes I have heard it called both lick test and stick test (as in stick to your tongue) I don’t recommend either but if you enjoy it like Tidgy (🥰) then have fun! LOL! It’s limestone, and appears to have traces of fossils, though what I’m not sure. 1 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.'
