Zapsalis
I just got this beautiful dromaeosaurid indeterminate tooth from @Dino Dad 81. Maybe even a potential candidate for Dakotaraptor? Regardless, I’m just glad to own my own dromie tooth! Gonna share my own pics, along with pics that Dino Dad took.
JBkansas
Technically trunk finds since I got them at the local gem and mineral show but still worth showing. From top left, clockwise: Colorful palmxylon (unk location, Cretaceous-Miocene), Larsonite (McDermott, OR, Miocene), oncolite stromatolite (Chihuahua, Mex, Cretaceous), Juniper with toredo (Kerville, TX, Cretaceous). Larsonite wood gets its color (and preservation) from the Yellowstone hot spot which was in McDermott AZ/OR 14mya. A small piece of it came off! @Dino Dad 81 @Troodon I feel really dumb now.
Zapsalis
Is it worth trying to epoxy it back together? Did I ruin it? Sorry, I’m just so worried.
Zapsalis
I think it was one of those little sharp bits sticking out near where the tooth would have gone into the gums. No serrations, I think? I assume that’s a good thing?

It's not uncommon to see the rough edges of a base break, happens to me often. You can use superglue to reattach it. Place the sliver on the tooth to make sure it's a good fit. Then you want to apply a very very small amount to the broken edge, maybe using a pin to transfer the glue. You want thin version of the super glue

I might have to have the paleontologists at my museum take a look or something. Thank you!

Zapsalis
Admittedly, the piece is very small (like, tiny) and I’m not sure where exactly it came off. I’m pretty sure it came off of the base.
digit
If you have someone in a fossil prep department at your university they should have the magnifying tools to be able to spot where this chip needs to be reattached and the means to do it. They might use a more permanent adhesive like CA glue or a tiny amount of epoxy or they might choose something more forgiving and reversible like B-72 consolidant/glue. Cheers. -Ken

One of my first messages to Frank years ago was about cracking a gem Allo tooth right in the middle of the crown. It happens. You're lucking it looks like a clean crack, which is virtually meaningless if repaired well. The real heartbreaker is when there are dozens of little pieces. Like you, I don't really trust my hands on things that are hard to replace. I'd send it to a prep person.

Jaimin013
Majungasaurus tooth Madagascar Maevarano Formation, Mahajanga Province Received this tooth this week. It is a pretty large crown and has lovely distal and mesial serrations. I love the brown shade of the enamel, it is super smooth! I have another Madagascan theropod tooth that I've posted about previously, but I'm not entirely sure what it is!
pachy-pleuro-whatnot-odon
It's been a while. So, time for another update! First up are some rare US plesiosaur pieces. The vertebra is a polycotylid from Utah, which is not known for its plesiosaur finds. So it's great to have been able to add a pectoral from a rare locality. The larger piece is, to the best of what I've been able to determine, a section of an ischium (pelvic girdle) of a brachauchenine pliosaur. Not only are finds of brachauchenine pliosaurs (and pliosaurs in general) in the USA very rare, but this is an absolutely massive bone. And with this being an ischium, not one of the larger bones, it would've come from an absolutely humongous individual! Then, the next piece, comes from the Saratov-region from Russia and is the ratchet tooth (back of the jaw) of a brachauchenine pliosaur that I got off of @DatFossilBoy. Really cool addition to my pliosaur collection 5 'There's nothing like millions of years of really frustrating trial and error to give a species moral fibre and, in some cases, backbone' -- Terry Pratchett

Misha
Onychodus has been on my bucket list for a while, it is perhaps my favorite Devonian fish. I didn't think I'd have the opportunity to actually find one, at least any time soon so I recently got the chance to purchase one of the fossils from this fish and it arrived yesterday. It's a large tooth from a whorl from the Onondaga Fm in NY.
