Fin Lover
I haven't found enough jaw fragments to be confident IDing them yet. I found this in Summerville, SC in a creek with mostly Oligocene but some Miocene as well. I have two other odontocete jaw fragments from this creek, but both had the double rooted alveoli, so I knew they were odontocete. Is this one also odontocete? Fragment is 45 mm long, 24 mm tall, and 16 mm thick. One tooth's root is visible. Thanks so much! 2 Fin Lover

Due to size I made the assumption that it is Kogiopsis .sp 2 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"
Fin Lover
Thanks, @Shellseeker, that's definitely much larger than mine, but I was thinking about the smaller odontocetes (dolphins) that I often find the little teeth for. I don't know what other options there are...large fish, small gator (which is less likely than odontocete here)? Fin Lover

I should have checked size before I posted,,, This might be a little closer, but as you well know, there were tons of dolphin species out there.. 1 1 1 The White Queen ".... in her youth she could believe "six impossible things before breakfast"

Fin Lover
Thanks...that was my assumption, but I didn't want to list it incorrectly on my gallery. I appreciate the replies! Fin Lover
