edrose
The other day I found this strange looking rock on the beach at Port Mulgrave- a well known fossil hunting site near Whitby. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any ideas as to what it might be before I go ahead and hammer it out...it looks like a typical nodule from the area with several distinct lumps. I hypothesise a group of Ammonites but this is only a guess. Any help would be much appreciated! Edited January 1 by edrose
Darktooth
It would be a great find if this was indeed a cluster of ammos but there really is only one way to find out. 2 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
edrose
Indeed... however I thought the underside could potentially be bone, but I'm not the best as identifying bone especially if it is worn. Most likely a jumble of all sorts similar to what I've found before in this area.

TqB
There's nothing obvious visible and I can't see any bone. Try knocking a piece off. 1 1 Tarquin
